Valentin Duceac (born 1979 in Bistrita, Romania) is a Canadian designer, one of the few without formal design training. He began designing lamps and furniture in 2003 with the goal to eliminate the notion of waste in product design. For example, once a product has fulfilled its primary function it can go on to have a worthwhile secondary use - packaging could biodegrade or become useful material to design new products.
Valentin has designed many products, the most notable of which are his Yogo and BinBin lamps made out of recycled materials. He is not only a designer, but also an artist who tries to communicate feelings of surprise, discovery, stimulation, sensuality and joy.
He has exhibited at Salone Satellite in Milan, Italy (2006), Material ConneXion in the Triennale di Milano, Italy (2007), Real Presence in Belgrade, Serbia (2008) and Saint-Etienne International Design Biennial, France (2008). Additionally, Valentin Duceac’s design has been featured in notable magazines such as DDN Design Diffusion, Impackt and AD - Architectual Digest.
Frequently, Valentin also collaborates with Archimedia-DesignStudios and campoArte.
